Announcing Further Development!


Hello everyone! As stated in the title of this post, I'm pleased to announce I'll be further developing Surge Protectors into a full fledged game! I've begun rebuilding the game from the ground up so it'll be better for scaling. It'll be some time before I have anything tangible to share but I did want to cover a bit of what I have in mind for the road ahead.

Keep in mind all of this is subject to change but here's a very basic road map:

  1. Rebuild of the core systems
  2. Art asset tests
  3. Basic Mobile version
    1. The plan is for it to have essentially the same amount of content as the jam release but it'll be more polished and utilize the new art assets
    2. It'll have a free with ads (likely only banner ads since video ads are actually horrendous lol) and a paid no ad version (will likely be $2)
  4. Multiplayer
    1. Tetris Attack/ Panel De Pon / Puyo Puyo style battle mode where clearing blocks will send garbage to your enemies
    2. Hoping for both online and local
  5. NPC opponents
    1. The hope is to have a small story / arcade mode
  6. Art, art, and more art
    1. Seeing as setting up the actual gameplay will be a relatively small project I really want to try and pack this game with content like playable characters, unique backgrounds, different block designs. Think like Dr. Robotnik's Ring Racers. I would love to have that amount of unlockable stuff, but we'll see.
  7. The end...?
    1. I have ideas for possible post launch additions but that's too far down the line to really get into.

It seems like so little listing it all like that but there's definitely a lot to do!
